First Meeting Agenda
The inaugural meeting of OrlandoPHP.org is scheduled for April 22nd, 2008, at Devry Campus on Millennia Blvd (it’s actually across from Target, across from Millennia Mall), in room 106. Our proposed topic for the month will be “Framework-Based Development in PHP”, highlighting the differences between the various, popular PHP frameworks. Among those slated for discussion:
- Zend Framework
- cakePHP
- CodeIgniter
- Symfony
- Roll-Your-Own!
Additional suggestions are welcomed, below, and “experts” in those frameworks suggested are encouraged to participate, as we’re planning for an open-panel-style discussion rather than a slide-by-slide presentation. Please provide feedback and comments below on which frameworks you use in development and why, or why you’ve chosen a different route. Seeya there!
The OrlandoPHP.org Team
You might consider mailing to the lists of each project. I’m not sure if you’re talking about Orlando, Florida from the Italian (?) on the site, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we have knowledgeable users there.

Yes, it is Orlando, FL. The Italian gives the site a little character. J/K, I was wondering about the Italian myself.

I’m a knowledgeable ZF user! I’m in Orlando, FL! I speak Italian… Wait, scratch that.
Comment by David Rogers — April 2, 2008 @ 3:08 pm
Hmm…well, I am a CodeIgniter developer but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make it.
Does this site have any relation to the PHP Meetup group from meetup.com?
Comment by Sean Murphy — April 3, 2008 @ 3:40 pm
No direct relation, no, but the idea was born out of more than a couple dwindling PHP groups in the area…
Comment by David Rogers — April 3, 2008 @ 4:12 pm
Maybe we should put a note somewhere that this is an independent Orlando group, since we keep getting asked if we’re related to the meetup.com group. Or even better, they should merge with us
Comment by Jamal Faniaan — April 4, 2008 @ 8:14 am
Sounds interesting, I might have to attend
Comment by Christopher Neetz — April 4, 2008 @ 12:37 pm
We should also consider meeting _every_week_, not just once a month… These more frequent meetings would be casual excuses to grab a beer a geek out with other, well… geeks, and the regular monthly meetings would be our presentation stage. Ideas?

btw, logo is coming. it is. i promise. maybe an unveiling at the first meeting?
