Hey, thanks to everyone who came out last week to our first meeting! It was a blast, and we all learned something about those pesky frameworks, I think. Now we need some ideas for next month… Maybe a CMS roundup? Things we love and hate about PHP? What’s the best PHP IDE and why? I love the idea for the project showcase! So much so, in fact, that I’m kinda starting my own PHP coding series at Stardust tomorrow night. I’m devoting a whole post to that, so I won’t give away too much.
Thanks for dropping back by, join ye ole fashioned Google groups, and poke around a bit!

What a great event that was! If you missed it, keep an eye on the BarCamp Orlando website for details on the next one and to recap all the great presentations from this one! I did a couple presentations, which I’ve posted on the HYDRA website, among other places. Thanks for all the compliments and advice, everyone.
Well, glad to see you all made it here in once piece, and we look forward to seeing you again at the next OrlandoPHP meeting!

Gosh, that’s a lot to put in one title…! Don’tcha wish that WordPress had a subtitle tag? Seriously. Anyway, thanks for dropping by, all you ppls from Meetup.com! Maybe Sway will drop by, too, and say a couple words. I know someone that works with him, I think, so who knows? If you’re wondering what this group is all about, well, you’re looking at it. No, no, not the inane ramblings of some recent Wordpress convert (still hate this thing, BTW); I mean the vague reflection you’re almost not-seeing in your monitor screen. Unless you’ve got one of those glossy MacBook Pro screens, primarily designed to satisfy their owners by providing the gawking stares of onlookers in perfect clarity.
Yes, it’s you we’re after. Not for your money or credit card information, not even for your precious cheezy poofs, but for your yet-unthought thinkings and yet-uncoded codings and lots of other yet-undone doings (that are conveniently free of copyright infringement). So stick around, check out a meeting, and provide valuable attention dataz, which feed the All-knowing Google.

Hopefully by now Ryan has put a link to our site on his, floridacreatives.com, and there’s at least a trickle of visitors filtering over here. Likewise, any of you PHPers that don’t know about Ryan’s group, head on over to floridacreatives.com and check it out. And be sure to drop by Crooked Bayou, downtown Orlando, on the 3rd Monday of the month for the in-person meetup. Creative uses of beer!
Well, thanks for coming by, and here’s hoping you’ll stick around. We’ve got a lot of PHP’g to do!

OrlandoPHP.org is a revival of PHP user groups in the Central Florida Area, primarily centered in Orlando. We’re planning monthly meetings to present and discuss PHP and general web development topics, everything from advanced programming principles, to PHP tools and frameworks, to basic PHP knowledge and practices, to PHP news and events. The first OrlandoPHP meeting is set for 22 April 2008 from 7:00pm EST until 9:00pm EST at Devry Center on Millennium Blvd, room 106. If you’re a PHP expert, novice, or somewhere in between, come contribute to the group discussions and maybe sign up for a presentation. Even if you’re just interested in learning about PHP as it compares to your own tools and profession, this is the place to be! See ya there, and happy PHPing!
Hey, all you ORUG peeps that are wandering by, completely by accident and not because I trolled your group for membership! I apologize for not having this up sooner. We sincerely hope to put together a diverse group of PHPers, just like what you’ve got at ORUG, only with PHP, of course. Not to say that we’ll be any less friendly to you Rails ppl, but it’s a different breed of nerd that digs the PHP codez. Your sauce will mix with ours / And it’ll make a good goulash, baby!

Yah, like all three of us, right? Well, hopefully you’ve gotten the message from the forum or from making an appearance at Cup O Code recently. This will be the new home of the Cup O Code events, if I can convince you all to join me; our first meeting as the new OrlandoPHP group will take place on April 22nd at the Devry Center on Millennium Blvd, right next to Millennium Mall. If you don’t know where that is, I’ll add a map to the blog soon…! Thanks for coming by, and I look forward to seeing you all at BarCamp (April 5th and 6th!) and at the inaugural OrlandoPHP group meet!
